Artist's Comments

I learned a few things this semester at uni. The most important one, probably, is that I should have never stopped using color pencils. I'd actually forgotten how much fun they are to work with. Expect some more traditional pieces in the future.

Color pencils (Prismacolor and Faber-Castell) on Linen paper

:star: Special thanks to :iconnikxstock: for the awesome stock. :star:

Wow :wow:

I only dream of learning to use colored pencils that well. I only have Prismacolors, is it possible to do something this detailed without also having Faber-Castells?

Well, in my experience, Prismacolors aren't very good for fine details because they're so smooth. The picture was rather small (letter size) and I did most of it only with Prismacolors, however the only way I could get the little details like the eyes and some of the texture in the scarf and the jacket done was to use a harder lead.

Thank you, and sorry for the late reply. ^^;

Oh, very interesting! I didn't know that was why people had Faber-Castells. What size set do you have of them? Because if I were to buy some just to do details I probably wouldn't need a very big set, right?

I have a set of 48, but that's because I use them for a lot of things. Prismacolors are super expensive and hard to find here is Costa Rica, so I reserve them for the more important works.

If you're only going to use it to define small details, then yeah, you should be fine with a set of 12 or 24.
